Punk, Indie Acts Band Together To 'Save CBGB'
Punk acts young, old and reunited have pledged their support
for embattled New York club CBGB, which is fighting to renew
a soon-to-expire lease and may be forced to close up shop entirely.
Artists such as the Misfits, Thursday, Against Me, Liars, Dead
Boys, Gorilla Biscuits and the Vandals will perform at a series
of benefit concerts at the club in the coming weeks to raise
funds for the effort.

JOE ESCALANTE JOINS INDIE 103.1 FM IN LOS ANGELES!!
The
station that brought you Joe Sibb's "Complete Control",
Dickie Barret's "Mighty Morning Show", and Steve
Jones' "Jonesy's Jukebox" will launch "Barely
Legal" featuring Joe Escalante on June 10, 2005 at 11
am Pacific Standard Time and continuing there after every
Friday morning.
During
the show, Joe will handle live calls from people trying to
make it in show business that need legal and/or professional
advice. According to Joe, "it should be part Judge Judy,
part American Idol, and part train wreck if everything goes
as planned."
Joe doesn't always like to admit it but before the Vandals
and Kung Fu Records became full time jobs, he was an entertainment
attorney since he graduated from Loyola Law School in 1992
when he landed his first legal gig with the CBS Television
Network, then later with UPN. Following this, Joe spent some
time in private practice representing such clients as
Sublime, Robert Williams, Ed "Big Daddy" Roth, Robert
Trujillo from Metallica, and Kevin Lyman from the Warped Tour.
Weekly guests will also join the party as well as a super
rad co-host that will be announced very soon. Those not in
the Los Angeles area can listen to this show on the web at Indie103.1.com.

your sad band, or your even sadder television/film career,

FROM ANTIFREEZE JOINS "VS THE WORLD"!!
The
latest band to sign to Kung Fu, Vs. The World, now includes
Trevor from Antifreeze. Vs. The World (formerly known as Pencapchew)
is Mike Davenport's (Ataris) side project. They are going
to start recording their full length album at Orange Whip
Studios in Santa Barbara. It will be co-produced by Tom Flowers
an John Collura (Ataris' guitarist). Make sure to catch them
on tour this summer!

THE
WISE ORANGOUTANG JOINS THE ESCALANTE FAMILY!!
The Vandals
Bassist, Joe
Escalante's sister Mariana
got married to famed composer Paul
Williams. You might remember Paul as Virgil,
the wise orangoutang from "The Battle For The Planet Of The
Apes". On stage, Paul Williams is one of the most likeable
performers around, so it's no surprise his work is some of
the best-liked by his peers and best-loved by music fans.
The list of performers who have recorded the compositions
of Paul Williams reads like a who's who of music, and includes
Bing Crosby, Johnny Mathis, Sarah Vaughn, Ray Charles, Ella
Fitzgerald, David Bowie, Frank Sinatra, and Elvis Presley.
One other performer who's given us a memorable rendition of
Williams' verse is none other than Kermit the Frog, who sang
about "The Rainbow Connection," a song Williams has called
his favorite. Of course, Williams has made a career connecting
with the lover and dreamer in all of us through timeless favorites
like "We've Only Just Begun," "An Old Fashioned Love Song,"
"You and Me Against the World," and "Rainy Days and Mondays."
The affable performer has also appeared in film and TV roles,
and was one of the nation's favorite visitors to Johnny Carson's
couch on The Tonight Show. Williams is currently creating
a Broadway musical based on the beloved TV series Happy Days.
